About me

I am a postdoctoral researcher at Jacques Delors Centre, working in the coordination project of the DFG-funded project Reconfiguring Europe. From August 2026 I will be an associate professor at University of Tromsø’s Department of Social Sciences.

The main thrust of my research deals with questions about the legitimacy of multilevel governance systems, with a special focus on the EU. Some of the key questions posed by my research are “What makes the EU legitimate to citizens? And do perceptions of legitimacy differ according to the policy area in question?”

Beyond this, I also work on issues such as the EU’s governance of new technologies and efforts to combat disinformation. My work in the Reconfiguring Europe project deals with questions about how the EU has developed over time, especially with regards to its spending and allocation of personell, and how this is shaped by factors such as the rise of Eurosceptic parties and citizenries.

My research has featured in journals such as West European Politics, Journal of European Public Policy and JCMS: Journal of Common Market Studies.
